Paatos

To put away three clichés right from the beginning: In winter, there are not months of darkness in Sweden. Not all Swedish have blonde hair. And in Sweden there are not only folk groups or harsh guitar rock à la Hellacopters or Fireside. Furthermore, the quintet Paatos, based in Stockholm, weightlessly moves between musical worlds: a few passages revive improvised rock from the Seventies, on the other hand singer Petronella Nettermalm reminds of Björk’s only seemingly naive charm. And when the mellotron supports the music with soft strings, some listener feels as if reminded of the hypnotic vortex of some Led Zeppelin passages – while Paatos use daydreaming and melancholic moods in modern styles instead of riff power. Melancholic? Okay, this one often used feature for Swedish music be accepted.
As a kind of reference the name ”Can” may be mentioned
